Spurs eyeing bargain deal for former Premier League sensation
There could be a reunion brewing with the Premier League and Brazillian superstar Diego Costa. The 32-year old forward finds himself released from his contract with Atletico Madrid and rumour has it that several teams are already lining up to potentially sign Costa, particularly the Spurs who have a connection between Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Jose Mourinho.
Premier League fans only have to go back a few years to remember Costa’s time with Chelsea when he led them to two Premier League Titles as well as a League Cup before leaving the team in 2017. In his career, Costa has played in 89 Premier League matches where he has scored 52 goals and 18 assists during that time. His return to La Liga has been disappointing though as he has only managed 12 goals in 61 matches since leaving the Premier League.
This could be a match made in heaven both financially and on the pitch. Chairman Daniel Levy loves his bargains and signing a football legend to play behind Harry Kane could make for a very intriguing one-two punch. A homecoming to the Premier League could be the kickstart that Costa needs and the added bonus of not having a transfer fee makes the deal all the more enticing for the Spurs.
