With the upcoming January transfer window about to open, many clubs are opening up their wallets to bolster their squads for the rest of the season. One team that is never shy about their spending is English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United who are in dire need of some goal scoring this season and may have a couple of big name targets on their radar. The Red Devils sit second place in the Premier League standings behind Liverpool, with whom they are tied in points but have one less victory on the season.
Football legend Lee Sharpe has openly commented on Manchester United needing to sign a goal scoring machine, naming superstars like Harry Kane or Erling Haaland as potential snipers to land. Sharpe goes on to say that whoever ends up signing Haaland, whether it be Manchester United, Manchester City, or Liverpool, have a great chance at going on to win the Premier League title because of how prolific of a goal scorer he is.
Harry Kane, who currently plays for Tottenham which is fourth in the Premier League standings, would be an obvious name for Manchester United to follow but will come with a hefty price tag. Either Kane or Haaland would be an immense addition to the team’s deep roster of scorers which includes Uruguayan star Edinson Cavani and French star Anthony Martial, as well as Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba. Manchester United is one of the few teams with deep enough pockets to pursue this duo, or possibly even Messi. Kane and Haaland are estimated to fetch about 300 million pounds between the two of them.
